Mind the fYOUture

As MET continues to act as a responsible company, the goals of sustainability have become more important than ever. For this reason, MET Group has created a new environmental and social agenda – the Mind the fYOUture programme. Through this programme we are committed to ensuring that our operations comply with environmental regulations, and our colleagues are encouraged to protect our resources.

For the first time since the 1940s, clean electricity has broken through the 40% barrier of global generation, according to a new report entitled Global Electricity Review 2025 by energy think tank Ember. The fact that low-carbon sources- renewables plus nuclear - have reached this share underlines the accelerating momentum of decarbonisation efforts worldwide.

While much of the renewable energy discourse focuses on utility-scale deployments and grid integration, a new study authored by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) highlights an often-overlooked segment that punches well above its weight: off-grid renewables.

A groundbreaking development from South Korea's Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology (DGIST) could reshape the solar industry's approach to environmental sustainability while boosting performance.

As of May 2025, the global momentum behind renewable energy shows no signs of slowing, with solar photovoltaic (PV) technology leading a remarkable transformation.

In the race toward decarbonization, Europe is increasingly turning to innovative solutions that maximize renewable energy output while ensuring system stability. Hybrid solar systems - which combine solar PV with battery storage or wind at a single grid connection point - represent one of the most promising yet underutilized configurations in our energy transition toolkit.

The 2024 edition of Hybrid Power Plants: Status of Operating and Proposed Plants from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory offers a glimpse into one of the most dynamic trends in energy infrastructure: the rise of hybrid power plants. While the report focuses on the U.S. market, its findings hold relevance for Europe’s evolving clean energy landscape.

The International Energy Agency's latest World Energy Investment 2024 report reveals a dramatic shift in global energy financing: for every dollar invested in fossil fuels, two now flow into clean energy and low-carbon technologies. This remarkable 2:1 ratio represents a complete reversal from just six years ago, when spending was evenly split between clean and conventional energy sources.
