COMAX France quadruples the size of its BESS portfolio

August 25, 2026
COMAX France, part of Swiss-based energy company MET Group, has completed a 57 MW / 114 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) portfolio across 10 sites connected to the distribution network in France. These investments are part of MET’s strategy to support the European energy transition.

The completion of this portfolio quadruples the size of COMAX France’s operational BESS capacity in the country to a total of over 86 MW / 143 MWh. Developed during the past three years, the project was delivered with Entech as the overall responsible contractor for the EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) scope, using CATL Pods and SMA inverters.

“We are proud of our COMAX team who worked safely and diligently with our EPC and technology partners to deliver this project on budget and ahead of schedule. With our continued investment in BESS and other flexibility solutions in France and across Europe, we reiterate our commitment to supporting Europe’s sustainable energy transition,” said Johannes Niemetz, CEO of MET Group’s Renewables and Asset Segment.

Now fully operational, these assets will allow further integration of renewable sources into the energy system, offer grid flexibility services, and contribute to providing price stability for end-consumers in the French power system.

The application of BESS is a key element in advancing the energy transition. In addition to the acquisition of French battery storage operator and developer COMAX, to execute on its strategy to increase its presence in this important asset segment, MET Group has been developing and pursuing the acquisition of BESS projects across Europe – in both stand-alone and hybrid configurations (where BESS is paired with renewable energy sources).
