Dunamenti Power Plant is supporting the participation of 20 schoolchildren from Százhalombatta in the Hungarian initiative of the international SpaceBuzz project. The main goal of the program is to put in a new and unique light the environmental education of 10-12 year-old schoolchildren and arouse their interest in science subjects through the “Earth Perspective” of astronauts.

The SpaceBuzz consortium was established in 2020 under Dutch project management and with the participation of France, Italy and Hungary. The aim of the program is to bolster the commitment of children to science subjects by using the SpaceBuzz rocket presented by Dutch astronaut and co-founder André Kuipers and by taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the virtual world.
The program sheds light on the fragility and vulnerability of the Earth from the astronaut‘s perspective and supports the efficiency of the learning process through VR (virtual reality) features. In Százhalombatta, the students of the Arany János Primary School, the Eötvös Loránd Hungarian-English Bilingual Primary School and Primary School No. 1 joined the program with the support of the Dunamenti Power Plant.
As the highlight of the Hungarian part of the program, the SpaceBuzz spacecraft will “land” in Budapest on April 30 and will await the hundreds of students, including 20 from Százhalombatta, who have successfully completed the program and are ready for the “take off”. They will embark on a virtual space journey that will allow them to see from “space” how tiny and fragile the Earth is.
