“With more than 500 competitors in the Spanish power market, I have put MET in the Top 20,” says Alberto Pérez, Power Director at MET España, who received the MET Excellence Award for his outstanding performance in 2025.
Alberto Pérez joined MET as Power Director at the end of 2021 when the company had not yet obtained a license to operate in the Spanish electricity market. Alberto created the power business from scratch at MET España in only three years. Not only did he create it, he also managed to put MET in the Top 20 – being profitable from the very first moment.
Alberto calls his team the “Power Rangers” – his nickname for a “super-fit team fully dedicated to the power business.” He believes their work has made all of this possible, although he emphasizes that “this is just the beginning of a long road.”
Alberto sees MET Group as one of the most important independent energy companies in Europe, adapting quickly to changes in the industry, whilst staying committed to innovation and sustainability. As Power Director, his role focuses on driving growth and strengthening MET’s position in the Iberian power markets.
Through evolving with the organization and taking on greater responsibility, Alberto hopes to help “shape the future of MET in a meaningful way – not only in the Spanish market, but also from a global perspective.”
Alberto recharges his batteries by spending quality time with family and friends and by using sport to reset both mentally and physically – be it padel, skiing or running.
